“Fall” In Love With Wichita This Weekend

Happy first day of fall, everyone! Since fall is finally here, that means all of the fun fall events begin this weekend. There’s so much going on in Wichita this weekend that it can be hard to keep track, so here’s a list of some events you might want to add to your agenda! For complete details on the most popular events in the Wichita area be sure to check our Wichita Events Calendar.

1

Avenue Art Days There are so many talented artists in Wichita, and this event is giving them a chance to show off their skills! Avenue Art Days is a free event that will begin at noon on Sunday, September 24th and will go until 4 pm that day. There will be 20 new murals going up, and two will be community art installations, allowing Wichitans to participate in the making of the mural. The community art installations will be under the I35 overpass and at The Workroom. Wichitans are encouraged to come out and help paint the murals. We are surrounded by talented artists whom we will see painting murals, but this allows each person to become the talented artist as well. Plus, won’t it be cool to say you helped paint one of the murals in Wichita? Stop by for this once in a lifetime opportunity! Head to Cleveland and Douglas to pick up a mural map, take 6 selfies with different murals, and you can even win a t-shirt!

The streets will be closed from Clifton Square, to Historic Delano for people to walk, bike, dance, explore art, and many other things! A couple of the things Open Streets ICT promotes is improved air quality, increased connectivity among Wichitans, and walking and biking as safe transportation modes. Promoting these things will hopefully lead to overall improved environmental and community health. They are also encouraging us to recognize that streets connect not only our work and play, but our cultures as well! Don’t miss out on your opportunity to explore the streets of Wichita while supporting the health of our city!

It was so popular that they decided to bring it back and use a fall theme this time! If you're in the mood to put some fall decor in your house, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Saturday at 1 pm, Invio will be hosting a pumpkin painting class, where participants can choose between copper patina, bronze, or any of the other metallic paints available. There will not only be snacks and dessert provided, but wine will be included as well. Tickets for this event are $45 per person, and will also include 2 large paper- mache pumpkins and one small pumpkin or gourde. You'll definitely want to take advantage of this opportunity to get in the fall spirit while having fun with some fellow Wichitans!
