20 Jun WICHITA the Movie- Is it Worth it to Watch?
So, it’s mid-June, the high is close to 100 degrees, and you’re probably more interested in staying in the cool air of the AC than the heat of the hot sun. That being said, you might be looking for things to do inside. Released today on Amazon Prime ($4.99 to rent, $9.99 to buy), Google Play ($3.99), and iTunes ($4.99 to rent, $9.99 to buy) is a film called WICHITA, so we thought we would watch it and do a review for you all!
WICHITA is a psycho-thriller film with a storyline revolving around a creator/editor, Jeb, who becomes too consumed in his co-workers’ lives and things begin to go south quickly. The actual city of Wichita is mentioned a couple of times throughout the film, although it’s not an overwhelming theme. One of the first scenes in the movie shows Jeb wearing a sweatshirt that says Wichita State. A couple of scenes later, Jeb also mentions his previous job at a news station in Wichita. Last but not least, as we all know, Wichita is rarely talked about without mention of the BTK crimes. Jeb mentions that he worked at the news station when they began receiving letters from BTK, and talks about feeling like a crime-fighting superhero when trying to piece together the notes and other evidence. Aside from these three times, the movie focuses more on horror stemming from the subject of obsession.
We love our city so our curiosity is what convinced us to watch this film and write a review. We’ll be honest, this film might not pull you in and keep you there the entire hour and a half it’s on, but there are some scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Overall, WICHITA is good for a Saturday afternoon of movie watching to keep the boredom away. After all, who isn’t a little curious to watch a film titled after our city?
