“Great teams aren’t always great, they’re just great when they have to be.” That quote from late NFL Films narrator John Facenda was applicable in Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Washington Football Team. While it’s too early to determine whether or not the 2021 Chiefs will ultimately be a great team, their 31-13 victory over Washington on Sunday.

Police said around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance with a weapon call at the Eastgate Apartments at Orme and Eastern, just south of east Kellogg. Shortly after, officers found one victim dead and two others were in critical condition. The suspect is still at large.

Videos of fist-flying brawls between fans at Arrowhead Stadium have once again focused attention on fan safety at NFL games. The latest altercation occurred in the stands last Sunday between two Kansas City Chiefs superfans, and was captured on video by spectator Tim Oerman. In video of the fight, one fan known as “X-Factor,” whose name is Ty Rowton, is seen getting punched by another fan who goes by moniker “Red X.”

The result of a drive-by shooting was the bullet lodged between her L4 and L5, located in her lower spine. Although she did not suffer any nerve damage, she has a long recovery ahead of her. Wichita Police are now offering a $1000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Wichita passed a non-discrimination ordinance on Tuesday. The ordinance prohibits discrimination against people because of their age, color, disability, familial status, gender identity, genetic information, national origin or ancestry, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status.

The District 2 Advisory Board is in conversation with Topgolf to bring the game to northeast Wichita. The Wichita City Council must sign off on the project before construction starts. Topgolf hopes to open in the spring of 2023.

A 66-year-old Wichita man was killed in a hit and run while leaving the Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday night. Steve Hickle was a big Chiefs fan and season ticket holder who traveled to every home game, one family member said. Emergency crews responded just before 10:15 p.m.

A Wichita man died from his injuries after being hit by two vehicles outside Arrowhead Stadium. He was crossing the street leaving the stadium during the Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills game when he was hit by a southbound vehicle that fled the scene without stopping.
