If you have never gone camping, here’s your chance to try it. Kick off the official start of summer with a VIP guided camping trip at Great Plains Nature Center! RSVP now and join us for an evening of fun including camping tips and tricks, fire starting demonstration, and a guided night hike to look for owls, frogs, and other nighttime animals. See Chisholm Creek Park in a new light (or lack thereof) and learn about camping, animals, and the great outdoors. The event starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22nd and lasts until 10 a.m. Sunday, June 23rd. You are welcome to enjoy the park afterward for as long as you wish, but please have your campsite packed up by 10 a.m.
This is a family-friendly event where children under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult throughout the night. Staff will also be camping with the group to ensure everyone’s safety. We will provide dinner, smores by the campfire, and breakfast. If a member of your party has dietary restrictions, you MUST mention them at sign-up. Bringing your own midnight snacks is encouraged, as well as flashlights, plenty of blankets, bug spray, and jackets. You must also bring your own tent/bedrolls. If you do not have a tent and would like to participate please reach out to us as we have a limited supply that could be borrowed on a first come, first serve basis. We will be camping near the restrooms on the north side of the GPNC parking lot.
This is a rain or shine event, so please dress for the weather!
