This rucking event will serve as a time of reflection, remembrance, and honor to those who have paved the way in service.
This rucking event we will also be taking donations where 100% of the proceeds will go to the Military Muscle Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to help facilitate access to resources, as well as creating peer support, recovery, and a community outreach program through fitness. The foundation has recently partnered with a facility in Denver where Veterans can receive counseling services, talk amongst other Veterans, and even receive financial assistance if necessary.
This event will consist of a 3-5 mile ruck. A ruck is a pack with weight. While there is no weight requirement a pack of some sort will be required for uniformity. A good rule of thumb for weight requirements are as follows for both men and women based on body weight:
130-150 = 10 pound pack
150-200 = 20 pound pack
200+ = 30+ pound pack
More requirements are as follows:
• If you use bricks for your weight they will need to be marked with your name and contact information (this is for safety reasons).
• Must have a form of ID (DL, School ID, anything with a photo on it)
• Must have homework assignment (will post as event gets closer, very simple and in direct relation to the event objective)
• Water or some source of hydration
• Nutrition (jellies, energy beans, protein bars, etc.) are optional but if you feel you need them please bring them.
We will provide the colors for the event. If you would like to wear service uniforms, boots and utilities please feel free to do so. The only thing that I stress is that you wear comfortable shoes/boots that are NOT new.
Further details are currently getting ironed out in regards to catering, patches, shirts, shadows, registrations, sponsorships etc. I will post further details in this forum as they get completed.
The definition of cadre is, “a small group of people specially trained for a particular purpose or profession.” I will post a picture, and a brief bio of these individuals once they are selected within this forum so that you may have a background of all of us.
If you have any questions please feel free to post them to this forum so we can get them answered for you.
Last year I think we had an amazing event and achieved the objective. For those that have never rucked or did not participate in last year’s event please do not hesitate to reach out within this forum. Those that participated last year please welcome new participants, encourage them along the way, and spread the word. One point of emphasis this year will be meeting our time hack. We were out longer than expected last year and that will be a major point of emphasis this year.
Please join us and spread the word about this event to help us honor those that have paved the way, are still active, and show our support for PTSD/depression/and suicide awareness. Thank you in advance and Semper Fidelis.
Lastly, this is not intended to be an all out training event. The pace will be fitting for individuals of all levels.
