Thursday, Aug. 10 is National S’mores Day, and you’re invited to join Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland in celebrating! During our National S’mores Day event, which is FREE to the public, you and your friends can enjoy hot dogs and the yummy goodness of a chocolatey, graham-crackery s’more at the Wichita Girl Scout Office.
At this come-and-go event, the public can learn about more about how Girl Scouts lead the way like a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader), and sign up to join Girl Scouts or become a volunteer. There will be fun activities for families to enjoy!
S’mores have long been a staple around the campfire, but did you know this delicious treat is rooted in Girl Scout history? That’s right! The recipe for a s’more dates back to the 1925 Girl Scout Leader magazine and the 1927 Girl Scouts of the USA handbook, “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts,” which featured a “Some More” recipe.
